Project 2 - Measured Drawing

This project aims to produce a set of measured drawings of historical buildings or structures in a specific location. A report containing important and historical information of the buildings will complement the drawings. It is an on-site exercise where students are required to execute fieldwork and hands-on measurement exercise.

Learning Outcomes of this Project

Upon successful completion of the subject, students will be able to:

ï‚· Recommend the appropriate method of architectural historic documentation

ï‚· Recognize and recall techniques of measured drawing and documentation

ï‚· Explain the as-built building constructions, architectural details and elements

ï‚· Interpret historic architectural element, structure and building

ï‚· Execute fieldwork and hands-on measurement exercise

ï‚· Translate measured data into scaled drawings

ï‚· Produce a report on the buildings highlighting its importance and historical significance

Project 3 - Report and Video on Measured Building

The report is a document that accompanies the set of drawings for the building that is measured during the semester. Basically, the report will elaborate on the significance of the building being measured from various aspects such as architectural, historical and cultural. In this report, students are required to relate the architecture of the building to its significance, highlighting how the two support the inhabitation of the building. A video documenting the building is required to provide 3D experience of the building.

The objectives of this project are as follows:

ï‚· To documents the significance of the building to accompany the measured drawings

ï‚· To enable students to analyse the relationship between architecture and the significance of the building as well as its inhabitation

Learning Outcomes of this Project

ï‚· Explain the application of architectural historic documents

ï‚· Describe architectural cultural heritage

ï‚· Elaborate the relationship between architecture and the significance of the building as well as its inhabitation
